Suzuki’s first electric car for Australia is just about ready to rock. The 2026 Suzuki eVitara small SUV will arrive in local showrooms from June this year, in two core variants, with all-wheel drive available as an option – but final pricing is yet to be revealed.
Suzuki has a lot riding on this. It’s a relation of the petrol-powered Vitara, but behind the familiar name badge is a brand-new, all-electric platform. Co-developed with Toyota, this is the company’s first bold leap into battery electric.
Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed, but UK numbers indicate it would sit in the low $40,000s to low $50,000s drive-away. That positioning would put it about $10,000 above the country’s least expensive electric SUV, a BYD Atto 2, and about $5,000 above a Leapmotor B10.
EOIs (expressions of interest) are now being accepted.
Variants and Availability
The Suzuki eVitara will be available in two grades for most of Australia:
- Motion – Front-wheel drive with a 49kWh battery
- Ultra – All-wheel drive with a 61kWh battery
Queensland and northern NSW will also welcome a front-wheel-drive Ultra with the larger 61kWh battery pack.

In terms of size, it is 4275mm long, 1800mm wide, and 1635mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2700mm. It sits squarely within the footprint of a compact SUV – about the same size as a Mazda CX-3 or electric rivals such as the BYD Atto 2 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
Powertrains and Range
The base Motion is powered by a 106kW/193 Nm front-mounted electric motor and a 49kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. For the European WLTP cycle, it also provides a claimed range of 344km.
Up to the Ultra, and things shift dramatically. The two motors (128kW at the front, 48kW at the rear) combine for 135kW and 307 Nm. The 61kWh LFP battery is even larger, extending the WLTP range to 396km.

All Wheel Drive is still only a rare feature in small electric SUVs, missing from the likes of the BYD Atto 2 and Atto 3, Kia EV3, Leapmotor B10, and MG S5 EV in Australia.
In Queensland and northern NSW, the front-drive Ultra’s 61kWh battery serves up 128kW and claims a WLTP range of up to 426km.
Charging and Efficiency
DC fast-charging, according to Suzuki, takes between 45 minutes (10-80 per cent) and eight hours, depending on the charger. The Motion charges the same amount in about 4.5 hours on an 11kW AC home charger, and the Ultra takes about 5.5 hours.

A heat pump as standard “avoids” range reduction in colder weather, according to Vauxhall – something more EV drivers are paying attention to when it comes to real-world efficiency.
Equipment and Technology
All Suzuki eVitara variants ride with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 360-degree camera system, climate control, and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, all included across the board. A widescreen digital instrument cluster – said to be a Suzuki first in Australia – also updates the interior.
