GM unveiled a striking electric Corvette concept at their newly opened UK design studio, signaling their renewed interest in the European market.
While you won’t see this particular car in showrooms anytime soon, it speaks volumes about GM’s plans to re-establish itself in Europe—this time with an electric focus.
Not your dad’s Corvette
This isn’t the familiar Corvette shape we’ve grown up with. Think more track-ready racer than highway cruiser—low, sleek, and built for aerodynamics. Die-hard fans will spot the subtle nod to heritage in its split rear window, reminiscent of the iconic ’63 Sting Ray.

Reading between the lines
The timing says everything. GM is sending a clear message about their European ambitions by choosing their new UK design center for this reveal. After selling Opel and mainly stepping away from Europe in 2017, they’re tiptoeing back in, starting with Cadillac’s electric vehicles.
This Corvette concept adds some much-needed excitement to that strategy. Could we see Corvettes on European roads again? However, growing trade tensions and tariffs between the US and EU might throw a wrench in those plans.
A worldwide creative effort
Designers from across GM’s global studios—Detroit, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Seoul—contributed to this concept. We’ll see more electric Corvette concepts throughout 2025, giving us glimpses of possible futures for the legendary nameplate.

So where’s the real electric Corvette?
GM first mentioned an all-electric Corvette in 2022. Still, the E-Ray hybrid is as electric as production Corvettes get. When pressed about timeline updates, GM representatives stayed tight-lipped, noting that their product plans evolve as EV demand fluctuates in specific markets.
This concept might not be headed to production for both EV enthusiasts and Corvette lovers. Still, it’s an intriguing look at what might come next for America’s sports car and GM’s global ambitions.
