The newest version of the Model Y from Tesla is here, and it’s more than just an update. It’s a change.
The 2025 Tesla Model Y Performance has officially arrived in Europe, changing what an electric SUV can be. Tesla has made a family car that can easily double as a weekend thrill machine by adding track-inspired dynamics, a power boost, and better practicality.
A Beast Under the Badge
Don’t let the shape look familiar. This Model Y is not like the others.
The new Performance model from Tesla has two motors that give it a mind-blowing 460 horsepower, which is enough to get from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. What is the top speed? A jaw-dropping 155 mph. That’s the kind of power that supercars have, but it’s in an SUV body that can still hold kids’ seats, groceries, and camping gear.
The secret sauce is in its updated Performance 4DU drive units, which come from the Model 3 Performance, and its new high-density battery pack. This electric vehicle was made for both speed and endurance, with a range of up to 360 miles (WLTP) and no extra weight.
Suspension tuned for the Nürburgring: Yes, really.
This isn’t just about how well it works in a straight line. Tesla has added a bunch of upgrades to the chassis and suspension, including adaptive dampers, which is a first for the Model Y. This setup was made and improved on the Nürburgring, and it lets the SUV go from a comfortable cruiser to a corner-carving beast with the push of a button.

Engineers also added staggered 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, new roll bars, stronger bushings, and more torsional rigidity. All of these changes were made to improve handling without making the ride less comfortable.
More intelligent, sharper, and sleeker
The design improvements are not only functional but also visually appealing. The new front and rear bumpers cut drag by 10% and improve aerodynamic balance by 27%. The carbon fibre rear spoiler keeps the SUV on the road.
Tesla has made the inside more luxurious. The new 16-inch centre display, which was only available in China before, has 80% more resolution for clear images. Heated and ventilated sport seats now have power-adjustable thigh bolsters, so you’ll be comfortable whether you’re driving on backroads or the highway.
Real carbon fibre trim, a panoramic glass roof, and an 8.0-inch rear touchscreen are just a few of the finishing touches that make this car feel high-end and futuristic.
First in Europe, but the whole world is watching
The Model Y Performance is starting to be delivered in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The first deliveries are expected to happen in September in Germany and the Netherlands. UK buyers should get their keys by October or November.
Prices start at £61,990 in the UK and €61,990 in Europe. This puts it well above the Long Range version but still well below some older performance SUVs.
What will Tesla do next?
Tesla hasn’t said for sure if the new “5M” battery pack and bigger touchscreen will be available on other Model Y variants, but insiders say that these upgrades may be available on Long Range models soon.
The Model Y Performance is Tesla’s best all-around package so far. It has a great mix of speed, style, technology, and usefulness. This electric vehicle promises to give you the best of both worlds, whether you want to drive your family around in comfort or hit the road on the weekends.
