When South Korea finally entered the electric pickup race, it wasn’t industry giants Hyundai or Kia leading the way. Instead, KGM (the company formerly known as SsangYong) surprised everyone with their Musso EV—and buyers can’t get enough.
Since its launch earlier this month, over 3,200 pre-orders have flooded in. The Special Edition? Completely sold out in just 90 minutes.
What Makes the Musso Electric Pickup Special?
KGM built its reputation on rugged, dependable SUVs and 4x4s. Now, they’ve brought that same practical approach to electric trucks. Think of the Musso EV as a midsize SUV with a bed—perfect for weekend adventures or daily commutes.

Inside, you’ll find a sleek “Slim Wide” dashboard featuring dual 12.3-inch screens. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ground view cameras, and wireless charging come standard. Feel like splurging? Add a panoramic sunroof, 3D monitoring system, roof rack, or Alpine sound system.
Performance That Matters
The heart of the Musso EV is an 86.6 kWh LFP battery delivering about 250 miles of range. Need a quick charge like 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes with 200 kW fast charging.
You’ve got choices for power, too:
- Single-motor front-wheel drive pumping out 207 hp
- Dual-motor all-wheel drive with a hefty 413 hp
It’ll tow up to 4,000 pounds and includes trailer sway control for peace of mind. The truck even features vehicle-to-load technology, so you can power your campsite directly from the battery.

The real jaw-dropper? The starting price is about $32,800, dropping to around $27,000 after government incentives. For a fully-electric pickup with these features, that’s almost unbelievable.
The New Kid on the Block
While the F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Cybertruck grab headlines in America, KGM’s unexpected entry might be the practical choice many have been waiting for.
What do you think? Would this budget-friendly electric pickup tempt you away from the more prominent names?
